Appleは日本時間10月19日午前2時にスペシャルイベント「Unleashed／パワー全開」を開催しますが、そのイベントで、14インチおよび16インチの新しいMacBook Proとともに、第3世代となる新型AirPodsも発表されるとの期待が高まっています。
リーカーMajin Bu (@MajinBuOfficial) 氏は新モデルに関する複数の画像を含むツイートをしており、AirPods第3世代や、急浮上した「AirPods mini」なる新モデルの姿を示しています。
この写真が新モデルの実機なのか、コピー商品なのかは不明です。
イヤーチップは採用されておらず、ケースサイズもかなり小さくなっていることがわかります。
イヤーチップについては、AirPods第3世代はAirPods Proのようなイヤーチップ仕様にはならないと別のリーカーDylan (@dylandkt) 氏は報告。
Just to reiterate, AirPods 3 will have a similar design to that of AirPods Pro, just without ear tips. Tips were shown to be an optional attachment on an early prototype, but recent leaks do not show these tips so it’s likely that they aren’t coming.

それを受けて、リーカーMcGuire Wood (@Jioriku) 氏はイヤーチップがないことに同意し、それ故AirPods第3世代にANCが搭載されていないことを主張しています。
Apple did try something they looked at with AirPods Gen 2 in that they had prototypes that made use of the same ANC from AirPods Pro, but just like AirPods Gen 2 it sounded worse than with nothing at all. So that's solid conformation of no ANC if there was any doubt

また、AirPods miniについては、リーカーShrimpApplePro (@VNchocoTaco) 氏はIP68防水性能を備えていることを報告。加えて、このモデルは第2世代の次期AirPods Proかもしれないとも指摘しています。
